Teemu Antero Kattilakoski (born December 16, 1977 in Kannus ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .
Career
Kattilakoski, who trains in Alavieska at the Alavieskan Viri club , made his debut at the 1996 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Asiago , where he came 59th over 30 km in free style. A year later at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Canmore in 1997 , he improved to fifth in the same discipline.
On November 28, 1998, Kattilakoski made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in Muonio . However, he ran past the points in this and the other World Cups of the season. It was not until January 2000 that he made it into the World Cup points for the first time with tenth place in Moscow . He finished the season in 65th place in the overall World Cup standings. Despite this mixed result, it remained the best overall World Cup result for the time being.
After a year break in the World Cup he managed to start the 2001/02 season with 24th place in the individual again a point result. With the relay, Kattilakoski came in seventh. In Nové Město na Moravě he stood with the relay as third for the first time on the podium. At the following Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002 , the Finn crossed the finish line over 30 km in 35th place. With the 4x10 km relay he missed the top 10 in eleventh place.
In December 2002 he reached first place in the mixed relay at the World Cup in Kuusamo . In Val di Fiemme , he took sixth place in the 2003 Nordic World Ski Championships with the 4x10 km relay. He also finished eighth in the 50 km individual race. After two weaker years in the World Cup, Kattilakoski was able to convince at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf and finished ninth in the individual over 15 km. In the relay, he crossed the finish line in twelfth place.
For the 2005/06 season , Kattilakoski started for the first time between the World Cups in the Marathon Cup and the Alpine Cup . At the 2006 Winter Olympics , he only reached 43rd place over 50 km and 10th place with the relay. In the World Cup, he was still unable to achieve top 10 placements. As in 2005, he was also unable to convince at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo .
It was not until two years later that Kattilakoski won the bronze medal at the 2009 World Championships in Liberec with the Finnish relay team ( Sami Jauhojärvi , Matti Heikkinen and Ville Nousiainen ). Shortly afterwards he secured his first Finnish championship title at the Finnish Championships in Kontiolahti .
After he won his second Finnish championship title in Keuruu over 10 km in January 2010 , at the age of 32 he was part of the squad at his third Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . Over 15 km in the individual race, he once again proved his form with a good 27th place. With the season, he just missed the medal ranks in fifth.
In December 2010, Kattilakoski competed in a World Cup race for the last time. Since then he has competed in the Scandinavian Cup and long-distance races in the Cross-Country Marathon Cup.
Kattilakoski lives in Jääli , is married and has two children.
