Textile in Wuppertal
Textile in Wuppertal is a compilation of around 30 important cultural and historical buildings related to the textile industry in Wuppertal . These are mostly buildings that are protected as historical monuments.
The closer history is briefly described on around 70 signs on the houses. The most important buildings include homes for home weavers in Unterbarmen , bleachers' houses in Rauental , dye works in Oberbarmen , ribbon factories in Wichlinghausen and Langerfeld , lining weaving mills on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße , garment factories and trading houses in the Hofaue .
Information about this route is provided in two centers. On the one hand in the restaurant "Diebels im Kolkmannhaus " and on the other hand in the restaurant belonging to the cultural center " Die Färberei ". Three of the four textile museums are located in listed buildings. These include the Museum for Early Industrialization , the Bandweaver Museum and the Kafka Band Weaving Mill . The project, which was designed and implemented by the Kulturbüro Wuppertal, a working group of committed citizens, companies and associations, and the textile museums, received financial support from the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, Culture and Sport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .
