reception

Ned Raggett described The Workhorse Chronicles as "a wonderful DVD that is an instant classic". In particular, the documentary part with the interviews would make this publication essential. For Jost Frommhold from the online magazine Metal.de , Relapse says goodbye "in a skilful way to this exceptional band". The three hours at hand would be “well worth the money”, so that the label cannot be accused of “wanting to cash in again”. The DVD would be “a delicacy for every Mastodon fan and should also be enjoyed by the uninitiated as a gateway drug,” for which Frommhold awarded nine out of ten points.
