Brann Timothy Dailor (born March 19, 1975 in Rochester ) is an American drummer and singer . He is a founding member of the band Mastodon and previously played with Lethargy and Today Is the Day .

Career

Dailor has played with the band Lethargy since its inception in 1992. With Lethargy he recorded their only studio album It's Hard to Write with a Little Hand in 1996 . Together with guitarist Bill Kelliher , Dailor switched to Today Is the Day and recorded the 1999 album In the Eyes of God . A short time later, Dailor and Kelliher moved from Rochester to Atlanta and founded the band Mastodon with guitarist Brent Hinds and bassist Troy Sanders.

The title song of the album Mastodon Crack the Skye is a tribute to his sister Skye, who at the age of 14 years suicide committed. The album cover of Remission , which shows a burning horse , alluded to this incident. The remission cover was inspired by a dream Dailor had about his sister and ended with the nuclear annihilation of the earth . In 2012 Dailor was nominated for Best Drummer at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards . In 2018 Mastodon were awarded the Grammy in the Best Metal Performance category.

Together with his bandmate, Dailor had an appearance as an extra in the TV series Game of Thrones in 2015 . In the Hartheim episode, Mastodon's musicians can be seen as wildlings . In April 2016, Dailor performed with the house band on the NBC talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers . 2017 followed two more appearances in the series Game of Thrones in the episodes Drachenstein and Der Drache und der Wolf .
