Thief River Falls , also called as Thief River or TRF , is a city (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Pennington County in the US -amerikanischen State Minnesota . In 2010 , Thief River Falls had 8,573 residents.

Thief River Falls is located in northwest Minnesota, 82.7 kilometers northeast of Grand Forks , North Dakota . According to the United States Census Bureau, the area of the city is 13 square kilometers, of which 12 square kilometers are land and 1 square kilometer is water. The city is located at the confluence of the Thief River with the Red Lake River , a right tributary of the Red River of the North .
Neighboring towns to Thief River Falls are Holt (12.4 miles north), Goodridge (30.9 km east), and St. Hilaire (7.7 miles south).
The nearest major cities are Winnipeg in the Canadian province of Manitoba (227 km north-northwest), Duluth on Lake Superior (392 km east-southeast), Minneapolis (473 km southeast) and Fargo in North Dakota (181 km south-southwest).
