Tisch und Bett (original title: Domicile conjugal ; alternative German title: Das Ehedomizil ) is a movie by the director François Truffaut with Jean-Pierre Léaud and Claude Jade in the leading roles.
It is the fourth film from Truffaut's Antoine Doinel cycle .

Antoine Doinel and Christine Darbon - the couple from Stolen Kisses - got married and struggled with married life. The everyday life of its protagonists makes the film a masterpiece of a light and pointed everyday comedy. The couple live in a large apartment building with a backyard. Christine gives violin lessons to untalented children in the living room, while Antoine colors flowers in the courtyard. Sex life appears as if two children or siblings are playing a married couple: they read or joke in bed. Only when Christine follows her husband's request to put on the glasses does it appear like a fetish. The film accompanies the couple to Christine's parents and in numerous everyday scenes. Antoine's affair with a Japanese woman leads to a breakup, but after a brief separation they reconcile with the bitter end of being a normal couple.
The climax is the scene in which Christine - through opening tulips - learns of her husband's adultery and awaits him at home: made up and dressed as a geisha , this guilty imago seems like a triumph. Then a tear rolls down your cheek.

The film Tisch und Bett is part of the Antoine Doinel cycle . For the first time the story of Antoine Doinel ( Jean-Pierre Léaud ) was told in You kissed and they beat him . The character then appeared in a segment of the film Love at Twenty ( Antoine and Colette ) and the movie Stolen Kisses , in which the love life of Antoine and Christine (for the first time: Claude Jade ) begins before the plot continues in bed and table . Truffaut originally wanted to start the comedy with a shock: Serge Rousseau , Christine's unknown pursuer from Robbery Kisses , who at the end proposes to her, takes off his clothes and jumps off a roof to his death. Truffaut then decided to start the story with the legs of Claude Jade, who proudly corrected the shopkeepers as she went shopping: “No, not Mademoiselle. Madame. "
