Tomislav "Tom" Zanoški (born April 3, 1984 in Zagreb , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian - Canadian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League .
Career
Tomislav Zanoški was born in Croatia, but immigrated to Canada as a child and grew up in Brampton in the province of Ontario . He began his career as a hockey player with the Vaughan Vipers in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League . After the Owen Sound Attack had drafted him in the sixth round as the 108th player in the OHL Priority Selection 2000, he played for the club for two and a half years from 2001 and moved to league rivals Mississauga IceDogs in late 2003 . During his subsequent studies at Dalhousie University he played from 2005 on for their student team, the Dalhousie Tigers , in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport , the Canadian university sport .
In late 2007 he was committed by Stockton Thunder from the ECHL , where he ended the season and also began the 2008/09 season . After just three games, however , he moved to league rivals Dayton Bombers , where he only completed three games before joining the Gwinnett Gladiators , with whom he stayed until 2011. In addition to his appearances for the team from Georgia , he played in the 2008/09 season on loan for the AHL teams Binghamton Senators , Albany River Rats , Lake Erie Monsters , Toronto Marlies and Syracuse Crunch . In the 2010/11 season he still played sporadically for the Gladiators and was mostly on the ice with the Lake Erie Monsters before moving to Germany to the Wölfen Freiburg in the 2nd Bundesliga in January 2011 . After relegation at the end of the season, he returned to his hometown Zagreb and played one and a half years for the KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league , where he also participated in the playoffs of the Croatian league in 2012 and the club with seven points in eleven games for the Croatian Championship title led. In December 2012 he moved to Klagenfurt AC , with whom he became Austrian champion in 2013 . He played for clubs from the United States, Austria, Sweden, Italy and Slovenia in quick succession over the next two years before returning to Medveščak in 2015. At first he played with the club from his home country in the Continental Hockey League , but moved with him again to the Austrian Ice Hockey League in 2017. In 2016 and 2017 he was again involved in the championship title in the playoffs of the Croatian league.
In January 2019 he left Medveščak after missing salary payments and moved to the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League .
International
With the Croatian national team , Zanoški played at the World Championships in 2017 and 2018 in Division I.
