Thomas "Tommy" Burns (born December 16, 1956 in Glasgow , Scotland ; † May 15, 2008 ibid.) Was a Scottish football player and coach .

Career

Career as a football player

Burns was signed by Celtic Glasgow in 1973 . He had previously played for amateur club Maryhill FC . He made his debut for Celtic against Dundee United on April 19, 1975. He was part of the team that won the 1988 championship and cup . In 1989 he moved to FC Kilmarnock .

Career as a coach

From 1992 to 1999 he coached Kilmarnock FC , Celtic Glasgow and Reading FC . With Celtic he won the Scottish Cup in 1995 .

Sickness and death

In 2006 Burns underwent skin cancer treatment . On May 15, 2008 he succumbed to cancer in Glasgow.
