Tradeshift is a web-based social network for companies . It is considered the world's largest trading platform for companies. With its business-to-business platform, the company connects over 1.5 million companies in around 190 countries (as of January 2018). The rapid market penetration of Tradeshift and the rapid acceptance of the services offered in the business world attracted the attention of international media, including the Handelsblatt , the American technology magazine Wired and the Financial Times .

history

Tradeshift was founded in 2010 by Christian Lanng, Mikkel Hippe Brun and Gert Sylvest. They had previously set up the NemHandel e-business infrastructure for the Danish state and are the initiators of the EU's PEPPOL project . This innovation was nominated for the European eGovernment Awards in 2009. Skype investor Morten Lund is Chairman of the Board .

The platform was first accessible in May 2010 and reached companies in 150 countries in February 2011.

In 2013 Tradeshift opened a research and development center in China. The European Commission approved Tradeshift's Universal Business Language (UBL) data format for government purchases in 2014 . This is intended to enable better connectivity between government agencies and their suppliers.

On April 1, 2017, Tradeshift from San Francisco acquired the IBX Business Network including the Portum solution from Capgemini . This merger of the two companies created the world's largest trading platform, which connects around 1.5 million companies and has more than 500 global companies as customers. As a result, on September 1, 2017, the European service desk was relocated from Krakow to the location of Tradeshift's European headquarters in Bucharest .
