Travancinha is a town and municipality in Portugal .

history

Finds here prove a settlement of the Castro culture and a subsequent presence of the Romans . The current town of Travancinha was probably created in the course of the new settlements with the Reconquista . The place is already mentioned in the surveys under King D. Sancho I (1154–1211). There was also a village called Casal, which received its own town charter in 1182.

Travancinha only became a separate community after the 14th century. King D. Manuel I gave the place city rights in 1514 as Casal e Travancinha and made it the seat of its own district in 1527. In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 and the Miguelistenkrieg that followed in 1834 , the district was dissolved in 1841 and first Ervedal , then Oliveira do Hospital , and finally Seia in 1855.
