Meeting Point Hong Kong (originally Soldier of Fortune ) is an American adventure film by Edward Dmytryk from 1955. Screenwriter Ernest K. Gann adapted his novel No Man's Land of Love (original title: Soldier of Fortune ). The premiere in Germany took place on August 12, 1955.

Jane Hoyt arrives in Hong Kong to rescue her husband, photojournalist Louis Hoyt, from a Chinese prison. She meets the adventurer and adventurer Hank Lee. Lee, who has deserted from the US Army , tries to talk her out of the dangerous plan. However, Jane is convinced of success, so Lee helps her. He falls in love with her.
He knows she would not get involved with him while her husband is trapped and his fate is unclear. Lee is now trying to free the journalist on his own. Hong Kong Police Department Inspector Merryweather tries to stop Lee. Lee, the owner of a Chinese junk , has the police arrested by his men. Lee frees Louis Hoyt and puts him on his boat. With the help of Merryweather, Lee and his people are able to repel a Chinese gunboat that is chasing them. When they reach Hong Kong safely, the good-natured journalist releases his wife.

The 20th Century Fox film was shot in Hong Kong and Trinidad and Tobago .
In his second film role (though not mentioned in the credits) Robert Quarry can be seen as a consulate clerk. In another equally unmentioned minor role, Victor Sen Yung can be seen as a hotel waiter. Sen Yung was best known as the second son Jimmy Chan in the hit series Charly Chan . Also occurs James Hong briefly as a policeman.
Producer Buddy Adler, who won an Oscar last year, was able to hire a very experienced director in Edward Dmytryk. There was also a star cast led by Oscar winner Clark Gable.
There were also award-winning employees behind the camera on set: composer Hugo Friedhofer, art director Lyle R. Wheeler , set decorator Walter M. Scott, special effects designer Warren Newcombe and costume designer Charles Le Maire.
Later Oscar honors came to: art director Jack Martin Smith, set decorator Stuart A. Reiss, conductor Lionel Newman and the film composer Ken Darby, who was the vocal supervisor for this film.
