Pure Trik
Reiner Trik (born June 2, 1963 in Winzeln / Black Forest ) is a former German wrestler and Vice European Champion in 1984 in free style in the middleweight division.
Career
Trik started wrestling at KSV Winzeln at the age of three , where his first trainer was Dieter Eith. He learned the trade of mechanic and developed into an excellent freestyle wrestler. In 1980 he took 2nd place at the German youth championships and in 1981 1st place in the class up to 75 kg body weight. In 1982 and 1983 he was German junior middleweight champion. The transition to the seniors went smoothly for him, because in 1984 he won his first DM title in the middleweight division.
On the international wrestling stage worked Trik from 1982. In that year he finished 4th at the Junior European Championships in Leipzig and at the Junior World Championships 1983 in Los Angeles he reached the 5th place in the middleweight division. In Los Angeles he was unlucky, as he lost after a victory over the Czech Josef Lohyna against the Bulgarian Nazif Umerow and only came in 3rd place because of a single missing technical point in his pool, which means he was "only" for the 5th place overall. With this point he would have become the pool first and could have fought for the world title against the Romanian Dumitru Chiru.
Trik started with a bang at the international senior championships. At the European Championships in Jönköping in 1984 , he won the silver medal after a narrow final defeat against Efraim Kamberow from Bulgaria . At the Olympic Games of the same year in Los Angeles, he finished 2nd in his pool and was therefore able to fight for the bronze medal against the Canadian Chris Rinke . He lost this fight with 2: 5 points and reached the 4th place.
In the next few years Trik always fought with full commitment at the international championships. But he was no longer able to win a medal again. His best placings were 4th at the 1985 and 1986 World Championships and 5th at the 1987 World Championships in Clermont-Ferrand . In Clermont-Ferrand he barely missed a medal, because he defeated the American Mark Schultz in a pool fight , but was defeated by the Soviet athlete Wladimir Modossian . Since Schultz again defeated Modossian, he became the pool winner because of the best points ratio. Trik could therefore only fight for the 5th place against the Turk Necmi Gençalp , while the Mark Schultz he defeated was still world champion.
In 1988 and 1989 he could no longer place himself in the front of the field at the international championships, often hampered by injuries in preparation. He therefore ended his international wrestling career, but started a few more years for KSV Winzeln. From 1993 he also took over the training in this club and was first chairman until 2006 before he was replaced by Martin Glunk.
