Cavid Namiq oğlu Çələbiyev (internationally also Cavid Chelebiyev ; born May 17, 1992 ) is an Azerbaijani amateur boxer. He became world champion in bantamweight in 2013 .

Boxing career

Cavid Çələbiyev became the Azerbaijani bantamweight champion in 2011 and also won the 2011 World Cup of Petroleum Countries in Surgut, Russia, in this weight class . In 2012 there were no national championships, but he took part in the University World Championships in Baku , where he was only eliminated in the final and thus won the silver medal in the bantamweight division. He also won a bronze medal in featherweight at the U22 European Championships in Kaliningrad .

In October 2013 he started bantamweight at the 17th World Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan . There he defeated Oras Afsolschojew from Tajikistan and Njambajaryn Tögstsogt from Mongolia in the preliminary rounds , Benson Gicharu from Kenya in the round of 16 , Shiva Thapa from India in the quarter -finals, Qairat Jeralijew from Kazakhstan in the semi-finals and Vladimir Nikitin from Russia in the final .

In 2016 he won the European Olympic qualification tournament in Turkey. He defeated it Vyacheslav Goshan , Stefan Ivanov, Aram Awagjan and Qais Ashfaq . At the games themselves he was eliminated in the first fight against Qairat Yeraliyev . In 2017 he won the Azerbaijani Championship and the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku . At the 2017 European Championships, he lost just 3-2 to Sofiane Oumiha in the round of 16 .
