Career
Turner Stevenson began his career as a hockey player with the Seattle Thunderbirds , for which he was active from 1988 to 1992 in the Canadian top junior league Western Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the first round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft as the twelfth player in total by the Montréal Canadiens , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1992/93 season , where he scored points and in one game remained unpunished. Initially, however, the attacker played for the first two years in the Montréal Canadiens franchise for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Fredericton Canadiens . After the right-shooter was a regular in Montréal from 1994 to 2000, he was signed by the reigning Stanley Cup winner New Jersey Devils , with whom he initially failed in the 2000/01 Stanley Cup final at the Colorado Avalanche . Two years later, Stevenson again reached the Stanley Cup final with his team, in which he beat the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim with the Devils . During the lockout in the 2004/05 season, the Canadian paused with ice hockey before he signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers after resumption of play in the NHL . In the 2005/06 season, however, the former junior national player was only able to play 31 games due to a hip injury. Due to persistent hip problems, he had to announce his career end on April 13, 2007, whereupon he dissolved his contract with the Flyers.
During the 2007/08 season Stevenson was active as an assistant coach for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL, where he had started his career as a player in 1988.
