1982 U-19 Asian Football Championship / qualification
The qualification for the U-19 soccer Asian Cup 1982 was carried out to determine the four participants in the final round. The 24 teams entered were divided into two regional groups. The games took place between July 31 and October 23, 1982.
Group 1 (West Asia)
Group 1 played from October 6 to 23, 1982 in Kathmandu ( Nepal ). The two finalists qualified for the finals.
First round
In the first round, the teams played in three groups of four or five teams each. The first two in each group qualified for the second round.

The results of the second matchday are not known - only that Nepal won against India.
Iran refused to play Iraq in the second round due to the First Gulf War . This was seen as a withdrawal. Since the Oman team had already left by then, Nepal qualified for the second round.

The game between Nepal and Kuwait was abandoned after 76 minutes due to a scuffle. The status at the time of termination was evaluated.

Result
Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, China and North Korea qualified for the finals. North Korea was later suspended for two years by the Asian Football Confederation due to the incidents of the 1982 Asian Games and replaced by South Korea.
