The USS Santa Fe (SSN-763) is a nuclear-powered submarine of the United States Navy and is part of the Los Angeles-class submarine to. It was named after the city of Santa Fe in New Mexico .
history
SSN-763 was commissioned in 1986. The keel of the boat was laid at Electric Boat in July 1991, and the hull of the Santa Fe was launched on December 12, 1992 . After the final equipment and some test drives, the submarine was officially put into service on January 8, 1994 at the Naval Submarine Base, Groton, Connecticut .
2001 the Santa Fe was able to win the Marjorie Sterrett Battleship Fund Award of the Pacific Fleet.
In September 2003, the Navy moved the boat to the western Pacific, where it took part in exercise ANNUALEX '03 , together with the Navy of Japan. For participation, the Santa Fe was able to win the Navy Unit Commendation . The end of the year the boat spent in dry dock, where some minor repairs were carried out. After trial and test drives in early 2005, the next relocation took place in August, where the boat took part in the Malabar exercise , which was carried out with the Indian Navy. In February 2006, the Santa Fe returned to Pearl Harbor .
The boat then dived into the Atlantic, where some repairs were carried out in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard . The Santa Fe remained in the shipyard until the beginning of 2008 . In the summer, the submarine took part in the RIMPAC exercise. The Santa Fe moved to the Pacific in May 2009 , as well as in February 2011.
She is part of Submarine Force Pacific, Squadron 7.
