Coordinates: 58 ° 21 ' N , 11 ° 56' E The municipality of Uddevalla is located in the province of Bohuslän ( Sweden ) / administrative province of Västra Götalands län . It is located about 80 km north of Gothenburg . The main town is Uddevalla , other places are Ammenäs, Fagerhult, Herrestad, Hogstorp, Ljungskile, Sunningen and other smaller villages.
geography
The municipality of Uddevalla stretches inland from the North Sea coast and is bordered by Gullmarsfjord to the north and Havstensfjord to the west, which separates the municipality from the neighboring municipality and the island of Orust and the offshore archipelago. The municipality is very hilly and sometimes difficult to access.
economy
After the closure of industrial companies in the 1970s and 1980s, the economic focus shifted to the service sector. Larger industrial companies are Uddevalla AB and Pininfarina Sverige AB (formerly Volvo Cars AB), but the largest employers are the municipality and the provincial hospital. Tourism is also important.

The Uddevalla Bridge has spanned the Sunningesund around four kilometers southwest of the center since 2000, and has since relieved the place through which the European route 6 previously ran and shortens the route by 12.8 kilometers.
