description

With a visitor capacity of up to 4,100 people, it is the second largest multifunctional event hall in the Bergisches Land after the Schwalbe Arena in Gummersbach . The enclosed space of the building has an area of 51,000 m² and offers a 1,600 m² hall area as well as a maximum area of 16 m × 10 m for a stage. The hall (without ancillary building) has an octagonal floor plan. The facade consists mainly of steel and glass.

It serves as a venue for concerts, musicals, trade fairs and conferences. Sports events such as European or world championships in basketball, roller hockey or dancing have already been held here. Live broadcasts on television have also taken place. Alternating with the Klingenhalle Solingen , the home games of the Bundesliga handball club Bergischer HC take place in the Uni-Halle . In addition, Germany's largest rock festival for up-and-coming musicians, the school rock festival , and the first-semester welcome from the Bergische Universität take place here.

In addition to a connection to the public transport (public transport), the venue provides short-range space for 1,200 vehicles.

The hall was renovated in 2013, for which around 14 million euros were available. The roof and the ventilation system were renewed and fire protection improved. In addition to the renovation, the construction of an additional triple hall for university sports operations and the subsequent demolition and construction of the university hall were discussed, but this could not be realized with the available funds.
