history

The place was in the Fraisch district of the Eichstättischen care office Arberg-Ornbau . In 1615, eight properties and one shepherd's house were named in Unter- and Oberschönau, all of which were subject to interest from the Eichstätt bishopric . In the village itself there were five subject families at the end of the 18th century, all of whom had the Arberg-Ornbau caste office as landlord .

With the community edict (early 19th century) the place was assigned to the tax district and the rural community Arberg.
