The Uranmarca district is located in the Chincheros province in the Apurímac region in central Peru . The district was established on November 19, 1985. The district covers an area of ​​147 km². The 2017 census counted 2820 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2575, in 2007 it was 3040. The district administration is located in the village of Uranmarca with 774 inhabitants at an altitude of 3100  m (as of 2017). Uranmarca is located 18 km south-southeast of the provincial capital Chincheros . Other larger towns are Tancayllo (304 inhabitants), Pariabamba (275 inhabitants) and Moyoccpampa (219 inhabitants).

Geographical location

The district of Uranmarca is located in the Andean highlands in the south of the Chincheros province on the right eastern bank of the north-flowing Río Pampas. The Río Huancaray, a right tributary of the Río Pampas, flows west along the southern district boundary.

The Uranmarca district borders on the Saurama district ( Vilcas Huamán province ) in the west, the Cocharcas district in the northwest , the Anco Huallo district in the north, the Ranracancha district in the northeast , the Santa María de Chicmo district in the east and the south to the district of San Antonio de Cachi (the last two districts are in the province of Andahuaylas ).
