The Andahuaylas province is one of seven provinces in the Apurímac administrative region in southern Peru . The province extends over an area of 3987 km². The 2017 census counted 142,477 inhabitants in the province of Andahuaylas. In 1993 and 2007 the population was 128,390 and 143,846 respectively. The provincial capital is Andahuaylas .
Geographical location
The Andahuaylas province stretches across the mountainous region of the Peruvian Central Cordillera west of the Río Pachachaca River . The Río Chicha (also Río Soras or Río Condormarca) flows along the western provincial border .
The province of Andahuaylas borders in the north with the province Chincheros and the region Ayacucho , in the east with the provinces Abancay and Aymaraes and in the west again with the region Ayacucho.
