The Andarapa District is located in the Andahuaylas Province in the Apurímac region in south-central Peru . The district was established on March 14, 1941. It has an area of 186 km². The 2017 census counted 5757 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 7556, in 2007 it was 6441. The district administration is located in the 2935 m high village of Andarapa with 503 inhabitants (as of 2017). Andarapa is located about 15 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Andahuaylas .
Geographical location
The district of Andarapa is located in the Andean highlands in the far north of the Andahuaylas province. Along the northwestern district boundary , the Río Chumbao flows north to the Río Pampas , which in turn flows east along the northern district boundary .
The district of Andarapa borders in the southwest with the district Talavera , in the northwest with the district Ocobamba ( province Chincheros ), in the north with the district Oronccoy ( province La Mar ), in the east with the district Kaquiabamba and in the south with the district Pacucha .
