The Pacobamba district is located in the Andahuaylas province in the Apurímac region in the central south of Peru . The district was established on January 19, 1944. It has an area of 259 km². The 2017 census counted 3,618 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 6093, in 2007 it was 4961. The district administration is located in the 2720 m high village of Pacobamba with 488 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pacobamba is located 33 km east of the provincial capital Andahuaylas .
Geographical location
The Pacobamba district is located in the Andean highlands in the extreme northeast of the Andahuaylas province. The Río Pampas , Río Apurímac and Río Pachachaca delimit the district in the northwest, north and northeast.
The district of Pacobamba borders in the southwest with the district Kishuara , in the northwest with the districts Kaquiabamba and Oronccoy ( province La Mar ), in the north with the district Inkawasi ( province La Convención ), in the northeast with the district Huanipaca ( province Abancay ) and in the southeast and in the south to the Huancarama district .
