Valakampiai
Valakampiai ( Valakupiai ) is a district of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius , in the northeast of the city center, between Antakalnis , Žirmūnai , Verkiai and Turniškės . It belongs to the Antakalnis County of Vilnius Municipality . The place is on the Neris . In Valakampiai there is the beach Valakampiai (river bank), the bridge Valakampiai (direction Žirmūnai), the forest Valakampiai, a protected area. In Soviet Lithuania , the trade unions set up the “Žiburėlis” children's summer camp here.
Shuttle ferry
An environmentally friendly shuttle ferry between Valakampiai and Verkiai takes up to 200 people a day on summer weekends, just one month after starting work. On one bank of the Neris are the Valakampiai beaches, on the other the Verkiai Palace and Park . The ecological river ferry "Uperis" was set up because the bridge was missing at this point. A passenger ferry crossing Neris has been operating since the beginning of June 2018 and reaches Verkiai in 1–2 minutes. Children, dogs and bicycles are admitted free of charge. The ferry is there until late autumn (until the ice begins to float in the river).
