The Verbandsgemeinde Obere Kyll [ kʰil ] was an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Verbandsgemeinde belonged to 14 independent local communities , the administrative seat was in the local community Jünkerath .
On January 1, 2019, the municipalities of Gerolstein , Hillesheim and Obere Kyll merged to form the new municipality of Gerolstein .

Association municipal council
The Verbandsgemeinderat Obere Kyll consisted of 24 voluntary council members, who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 25, 2014 , and the full-time mayor as chairman. After Diane Schmitz's term of office as Mayoress ended on December 31, 2017, the management of the municipal administration was initially in the hands of the 1st alderman Melitta Gray (FWG) before it was decided by the municipal council on January 25, 2018 for the period from January 1, 2018. February until the dissolution of the Verbandsgemeinde on December 31, 2018 Arno Fasen was assigned as "authorized person in the role of mayor".

The colors blue and silver are the colors of Schleiden's rule , the lily also comes from the Schleiden coat of arms (see Jünkerath ), to which the area previously belonged. The wave bar symbolizes the Kyll . The star comes from the coat of arms of the local community Stadtkyll . The sign board is in Rhineland-Palatinate is a common symbol of arms of unitary councils.
