Administrative division of the Republic of Buryatia
The Republic of Buryatia in the Siberian Federal District of the Russian Federation is divided into 21 Rajons and 2 urban districts (as of 2014).
The Rajons are divided into a total of 18 municipalities (gorodskoje posselenije) and 252 rural municipalities (selskoje posselenije).

Both urban districts each include only one village, the city that gives it its name. The Severobaikalsk urban district is surrounded by the territory of the Severo-Baikalsky rajon (number 17 on the map) on the northwestern bank of Lake Baikal . The urban district of the republic capital Ulan-Ude extends between Iwolginski (8) and Saigrajewski rajon (6).
Rajons
Most of the area of the Bargusinski, Bauntowski, Chorinski, Pribaikalski and Severo-Baikalski districts (each over 95%) are occupied by unmunicipal territory (meschselennaja territorija) , as well as about 77% of the Jerawninski rajon and significant parts (about 7 to 35% ) of the Bitchursky, Ivolginsky, Kjakhtinsky and Muchorschibirski districts. There are no settlements and permanent residents in these territories. In the table the areas of these rajons are given in whole numbers, including unincorporated territories.
