Viktor Georg Friedrich Konrad von Randow (born September 7, 1856 in Stronn , † October 26, 1939 in Radolfzell ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Viktor came from the noble family von Randow . He was the son of the Prussian major Georg Friedrich Eugen von Randow (1815–1885) and his wife Anna, née Countess von Kospoth (1819–1868).

Military career

After attending cadet schools Oranienstein and Berlin Randow was on 23 April 1874 as uncharacterized Portepeefähnrich the fourth Pomeranian Infantry Regiment. 21 of the Prussian Army transferred. On December 12, 1874, he received the patent for his rank and on October 12, 1875, he was promoted to second lieutenant . As such, he was transferred to the 3rd Baden Infantry Regiment No. 111 at the end of April 1878 . From 1880 to 1882 Randow was adjutant of the Karlsruhe district command . Promoted to prime lieutenant in 1885 , he came to Freiburg in 1889 as adjutant to the 57th Infantry Brigade , before he was promoted to captain the following year and transferred to the 1st Silesian Grenadier Regiment No. 10 as company commander . From 1896 to 1899 Randow served as an adjutant at the General Command of III. Army Corps and then became a major battalion commander in the Leibgarde Infantry Regiment (1st Grand Ducal Hessian) No. 115 . In 1904 he joined the staff of the 7th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 96 as a lieutenant colonel and from 1906 to 1910 commanded the 8th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 169 as a colonel . Subsequently Randow was awarded the character as a Major General to the commander of Darmstadt appointed. In this position he was also the commander of the Darmstadt military training area in 1913/14 .

After the outbreak of World War I Randow took part in the Battle of Langemark as a brigade commander in the 52nd Reserve Division . He was then from December 12, 1914 to August 19, 1916 in command of the 103rd Reserve Infantry Brigade and then received command of the 95th Reserve Infantry Brigade. On May 8, 1917 Randow was relieved of his command and with the statutory board for disposition made. He was then immediately reused and worked as an inspector of the German, Austrian and Turkish training troops of the Southern Army. At the end of the year Randow returned to his old post as Commandant of Darmstadt and was dismissed as Lieutenant General at the end of the war.

As a retirement home he chose Freiburg im Breisgau , where he celebrated his 65th soldier anniversary on April 23, 1939.

family

In 1884 he married Louisida (Lulu) Barth (1862–1921), daughter of Karl August Barth and Charlotte Pfeuder, in Karlsruhe. With her he had five daughters, including:
