Vincenzo Costaguti
Vincenzo Costaguti (* 1612 ; † December 6, 1660 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal .
biography
He was a member of the Ligurian family Costaguti or Costaguta, son of Prospero Costaguti, Marchese of Sipicciano and Rocca Elvezia , and his first wife Paola Costa. His father Prospero already held various institutional and state offices as a senator in Rome, diplomatic representative of the Republic of Genoa and governor of the Brotherhood of San Giovanni de 'Genovesi. His family was awarded the title of Marchesi of Spicciano in Tuscany and Signori of Roccalvecce near Viterbo by Pope Innocent X in 1645 . The restoration of the local parish church near the Roccalvecce Castle is thanks to the later Cardinal Vincenzo Costaguti.
From the Tigulline citadel of Chiavari , where he worked as a doctor of civil and canon law, he moved to Rome, where he was promoted to cardinal by Pope Urban VIII in the consistory of July 13, 1643 . On August 31, he received the Diakonie of Santa Maria in Portico Octaviae ; later he held the position of secretary of the Apostolic Chamber . He took part in the conclave of 1644 , which Pope Innocent X elected. During his pontificate he was appointed Apostolic Protonotary . From 1648 to 1651 he was a cardinal legate in Urbino . In 1648 he worked on the construction of the Villa Bell'Aspetto near Nettuno , now known as Villa Borghese or Villa Costaguti .
He was then appointed cardinal deacon of Sant'Angelo in Pescheria (September 23, 1652) and then of Santa Maria in Cosmedin (July 21, 1653). He took part in the conclave of 1655 , in which Pope Alexander VII was elected. Historical sources recall the meeting with Queen Christina of Sweden in December 1655 in Rome, during which he had in-depth discussions on historical, mathematical and musical topics well known to him.
He was appointed Cardinal Deacon of Sant'Eustachio appointed (6 March 1656), and finally received the titular church of San Callisto (19 July 1660).
He died in Rome on December 6, 1660. His grave is in the family chapel of the Church of San Carlo ai Catinari .
