Vivah ( Hindi : विवाह, Urdu : وواہ, German : wedding) is a successful love drama from Bollywood .

action

Poonam lost her parents when she was very young. Her uncle Krishnakant and her aunt Rama have taken her into their home. But Rama is jealous of Poonam because she is prettier than her own daughter Rajni. But Poonam and Rajni (Chothi) get along very well from an early age.

One day Bhagat-ji, a jeweler and good friend of Krishnakant, visits the family. Immediately he is delighted with Poonam's manner and decides to find a suitable husband for her. He already has a young man in his sights: Prem, the son of the industrialist Harichandra, who is also a friend of Bhagat-ji.

They send a picture of Poonam to Harichandra, who is immediately enthusiastic about Poonam. When he tells Prem about Poonam, Prem is skeptical at first. But his brother tries to calm him down and tells him about his own experience and the marriage to his current wife Bhavna. This calms Prem down a bit and agrees to meet Poonam.

When Prem and his family travel from Delhi to Madhupur to visit Poonam's family, the two get a little closer. The two shyly agree to the marriage and become engaged. Since everything went so well, Poonam's uncle decides to go on vacation with Prem's family in his holiday home Som Sarovar .

In Som Sarovar , Prem and Poonam can be alone, thanks to the arranged meetings of Bhavna, and fall head over heels in love. When Prem and the family have to leave the holiday home early for business reasons, the two of them stay in touch via the internet, telephone and post. Only through the great distance do they reveal their feelings for one another, which they were unable to show out of shame.

Two days before the official wedding, a fire breaks out in Krishnakant's house. When Poonam tries to save Chothi from the burning house, she suffers severe burns that adorn her whole body with the exception of her face.

After hearing about Poonam's accident, Prem visits her at the hospital immediately. Poonam is very unhappy and insecure because she doesn't know if Prem would like to marry her. For Prem, however, it is natural to take Poonam home as a bride. And as a sign of this he puts Sindur on her head.

The doctor informs the families that there is still hope. Poonam can be operated on, but the procedure can be very risky and the injuries take a long time to heal completely. However, the operation is successfully over and Prem nurses Poonam in the hospital for some time until he takes her home to the wedding.

criticism

"Genre-typical Bollywood comedy with melodramatic undertones, which offers the whole spectrum of the subject, but staging follows well-known and well-trodden paths."
