Fransecky , historically also Fransky , later also Fransecki , is the name of a Prussian noble family .

history

The Fransecky saw themselves as descending from the Hungarian nobility, but were not documented until the 18th century in East Prussia . The family line begins with Abraham Moritz von Fransecky (1711–1796), royal Prussian forester and major a. D. , whose younger brothers Sigismund Cornelius von Fransecky, Prussian lieutenant engineer, and Wilhelm Christian August von Fransecky, Prussian captain , received a nobility diploma from Frederick the Great on November 1, 1776, renovating and confirming the old Hungarian nobility .

In Pomerania the Fransecky belonged to the basic knighthood around 1800 . There they owned the noble estates Altendorf (1803-1806) and Schwessow (1779-1794) in the district of Greifenberg , Dargislaff (1803-1806), Kölpin (1795-1806), Neurese (1796-1806) and Schwedt (1803-1806) in the Fürstenthum district and Schlötenitz (1791–1799) in the Pyritz district . Heinrich Johann Sigismund von Fransecky († after 1808), Prussian captain in the "Favrat" infantry regiment in Braunsberg and the unmarried Otto Carl Wilhelm von Fransecky, Prussian captain at Ruits in Warsaw, paid homage in 1804.

Two lines emerged from the tribe of Abraham Moritz von Franseckys.

The first line was donated by his older son Johann Wilhelm Moritz von Fransecky (1769–1843), a Prussian captain a. D. His grandson, the Prussian Lieutenant General Heinrich von Fransecky (1842–1917), received at the main headquarters on September 26, 1915, for himself and his descendants, as well as the widow and daughters of his brother, who died in 1914, the merciful authorization to continue the nobility title and Coat of arms. With his son, Rudolf von Fransecky (1870–1930), major general a. D., who left two daughters, the male line of this line is extinct.

The second line was donated by his younger son Christian Gottlieb Ernst von Fransecky (1771–1841), a Prussian Rittmeister a. D. His son, the Prussian general of the infantry and commanding general of the XV. Army Corps , Eduard von Fransecky (1807–1890), received the Prussian nobility by being awarded the Order of the Black Eagle in Berlin on April 8, 1875. His three sons did not survive him, the daughter Anna von Fransecky (1839-1909) married the Prussian Colonel, Baron Kurt Treusch von Buttlar-Brandenfels († 1892) in 1878 and founded the von Buttlar-Fransecky-Stift.

Ulrike von Fransecky (1801–1876), daughter of the Prussian major a. D., Heinrich von Fransecky, married Carl Unzelmann (1794–1873), Prussian Premier Lieutenant and battalion adjutant in the infantry regiment (No. 21) in 1824 . He was adopted by his father-in-law, whereupon on March 23, 1833, he was ennobled to the Prussian nobility Unzelmann von Fransecky . This family has also died today.

Although according to the sources developed for this article, the noble family von Fransecky must be considered extinct, well-known namesake can also be found in the present, who should be relatives or descendants. Alix von Fransecky (* 1912), who was honored with the Federal Republic of Germany's Medal of Merit in May 1968 , was like Sigrid (* 1908) a daughter of Major General Rudolf von Fransecky (1870–1930). Through the second marriage of her mother Edith geb. Wyneken (1885-1932) was the archaeologist Ludwig Curtius her stepfather. Sigrid was the mother of the Hamburg educator Michael Magunna, who was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2015.
