The 10th stage of the Vuelta a España 2008 on September 9th led over 151.3 kilometers from Sabiñánigo to Saragossa . Two sprint classifications and a mountain classification of the 2nd category were on the program.
On the rather short stage, tension arose for the first time after 34 kilometers, as the only mountain classification of the day was held here. It came to the duel of the first in the mountain classification David Moncoutié and the third Juan Manuel Gárate . The latter won the classification and with it ten points, while Moncoutie was third and got five points. After the summit, Matej Jurčo took off as a soloist and was able to gain a lead of up to seven minutes at times. However, he was powerless against the sprinter teams and was caught up again. The mass sprint ended with a surprise: Sébastien Hinault secured the day's victory. Surprisingly, top sprinters like Tom Boonen or Óscar Freire did not win. With his third place in the daily classification and a second place in an intermediate sprint, Greg Van Avermaet took the lead in the points classification.
