The Regal Welsh Professional Championship 1991 was a professional snooker tournament of the 1990/92 season without affecting the world rankings and determining the Welsh professional champions. The tournament, which was the final edition of the Welsh Professional Championship, was played from February 10-15, 1991 at the Newport Center in the Welsh city of Newport . Defending champion Darren Morgan was able to defend his title with a 9: 3 final win over Mark Bennett , at the same time he played the only Century Break and thus the highest break of the tournament with a 123 break .
Prize money
With the Imperial Brands brand Regal , the tournament had a new sponsor who sponsored the Welsh Open from the following season . With the sponsorship change, the prize pool increased by just under £ 6,000 to £ 33,500, of which about a third went to the winner. However, at the same time the price for the highest break was abolished after several years.

After several years the number of participants had remained constant at ten despite changing participants, it fell to nine due to the absence of record winner Doug Mountjoy . Nevertheless, there was again a first round before the quarter-finals, with these two rounds again being played in the best of 11 frames mode and the semifinals and the final in the best of 17 frames mode.

final
Darren Morgan had made it into the final for the second time in a row, although he had no clear wins with a 6: 4 win over the aged ex-world champion Ray Reardon and a 9: 8 win over Wayne Jones . His final opponent Mark Bennett had also only won 6: 4 - against Steve Newbury - in the first round , but had defeated Tony Chappel 9: 5 in the semifinals and thus lost fewer frames than Morgan until the final.
The match started very evenly, so that after four frames it was 2-2. However, Morgan was able to take the lead 6-2 with the help of several breaks of over 50 points, including the 123er Century, before Bennett was able to shorten it to 6-3. However, Morgan was not impressed and won the following three frames to win the tournament.
