The 1911 World Exhibition in Turin ( it: Esposizione internazionale dell'Industria e del Lavoro ) was the 18th world exhibition recognized by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) . It was on April 29, 1911 by King Victor Emmanuel III. opened and lasted until November 19, 1911. Valentino Park was used as an exhibition area of 120 hectares . The world exhibition took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the unification of the Kingdom of Italy . The exhibition had over 7 million visitors.
history
As in the international exhibitions of 1884, 1898, 1902 and 1924, the 120 hectare exhibition area was located in the 500,000 m² Valentino Park. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the “Unità d'Italia”, a series of exhibitions were held in Turin, Rome and Florence : an international exhibition of contemporary art was held in Rome and an exhibition of Italian portraiture from the late 16th century was held in Florence shown until 1861, as well as an international flower exhibition. The world exhibition in Turin was dedicated to the topic of economy and work.
