The Nordic Combined World Cup 2000/01 season began on December 2, 2000 in Kuopio, Finland and ended on March 10, 2001 at Holmenkollen near Oslo . During the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships were held in Lahti from February 15 to 25, 2001 . In addition to the overall World Cup, a sprint World Cup ranking has been carried out since this season, which is calculated from the results of all sprints. In addition, a mass start race was organized for the first time as part of the World Cup.
The Austrian Felix Gottwald won the overall and sprint world cup with six World Cup victories. The success in Kuopio was the first World Cup victory of his career. Behind them he relegated the German Ronny Ackermann and the Norwegian Bjarte Engen Vik to their places. Bjarte Engen Vik announced his retirement after the season.
Sebastian Haseney celebrated his first World Cup victory in Steamboat Springs ahead of Marko Baacke . For Baacke, however, this remained the best World Cup placement of his career. Finland won the only team competition of the World Cup season, ahead of Austria and Norway .
