In 1912 he founded the Association of Workers at House Nyland in Hopsten , an association for creative work. From 1912 to 1914 he and his brother-in-law Josef Winckler edited the quarterly Quadriga (the magazine company was continued under the title Nyland from 1918 to 1921 ). Benefit scheme according to Vershofen

In 1918 he became the syndic of the Sonneberg Chamber of Commerce and tried to prevent the ruinous competition between toy manufacturers in Thuringia by encouraging the formation of associations. In 1919 he became head of the Association of the German Porcelain Industry , which he completely reorganized. In 1921 he accepted a teaching position at the Nuremberg Commercial College and was appointed full professor of economics there in 1924 . Vershofen had brought along a research organization “which he founded while working for the German porcelain industry. He reorganized it and renamed it in 1925 the Institute for Economic Monitoring of German Finished Goods . ”After the successful integration, the institute's scientific focus shifted to special market research and cost research. Here was Ludwig Erhard his research assistant. In November 1933 he was one of the signatories of the professors' commitment at German universities and colleges to Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist state . In 1934 the Society for Consumer Research was founded on his suggestion and preparatory work . Vershofen is considered the founder of modern market research in Germany. In 1940 he developed the utility scheme to describe the importance of consumer goods for the consumer.
