Karl Wilhelm Leopold Alexander von Wentzel (born June 1, 1791 in Berlin , † December 29, 1868 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Wilhelm was a son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel and chief of the 7th Invaliden Company Friedrich von Wentzel (1754-1825) and his wife Sabine, born von Dittmar (1767-1791), a daughter of Major General Johann Wilhelm von Dittmar .

Military career

Wentzel took effect on February 1, 1802 as a corporal corporal in the infantry regiment "Winning" the Prussian army and advanced to the end of June 1804 Ensign . In the Fourth Coalition War he was made inactive after the Battle of Auerstedt .

On August 11, 1809 he came back to the infantry as a second lieutenant with a patent from January 23, 1808 , was transferred to the 3rd Reserve Battalion of the 1st West Prussian Infantry Regiment at the beginning of March 1813 and on June 6, 1813 to the III. Battalion of the Colberg Infantry Regiment aggregated . During the Wars of Liberation , Wentzel fought in the Battle of Großbeeren and was wounded near Dennewitz . On January 19, 1814, he was transferred to the 29th and April 8th, 1815 in the 31st Infantry Regiment . With this he fought in the summer campaign of 1815 in the battle of Ligny , where Wentzel was wounded again.

On October 10, 1815, he joined the 25th Infantry Regiment as captain and company commander . By mid-September 1841, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel before him as at March 30, 1844 Colonel with the leadership of the 37th Infantry Regiment commissioned. His appointment as regimental commander took place on January 14, 1845. This was followed from September 25 to October 11, 1849 as a commander of the 5th and then the 6th Infantry Brigade . As major general , Wentzel became commander of the 12th Infantry Brigade on May 4, 1852 . In this position he received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves , in mid-August 1854 . Wentzel married Friederike von Guretzki-Cornitz (1797–1848) in Berlin on August 3, 1826, with whom he had the following children:

After the death of his first wife, he married Antonie von Giese (1826-1884) on December 2, 1850 in Torgau. The couple had several children:
