Wolfgang VI. von Dalberg (to differentiate himself from his father of the same name: Wolf the Younger and Wolf the Tall ) (* 1473 ; † January 25, 1522 ) was a German knight from the von Dalberg dynasty , a bailiff and Burgmann in Oppenheim .

Origin and relationship

He was one of 11 children of Wolfgang III. Chamberlain of Worms , called von Dalberg, mayor of Oppenheim and court marshal of the Palatinate , and his wife, Gertrud von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads († 1502), daughter of the knight Friedrich von Greiffenclau zu Vollrads (1401–1462).

Among the 10 siblings Wolfgang VI. held several offices, including: Johann III. , Bishop of Worms and Chancellor of the Electoral Palatinate , Friedrich VI. von Dalberg , Mayor of Oppenheim, and Guda , Piorin of the Maria Himmelskron monasteries in Horchheim (today: Worms ) and Marienberg near Boppard . Richard von Greiffenklau zu Vollrads (1467–1531), his maternal cousin, served as Archbishop and Elector of Trier .

1507 married Wolfgang VI. first marriage to Agnes von Sickingen († 1517), sister of Franz von Sickingen († 1523). After her death in 1518 he married Walpurga Lorichia von Kronberg , daughter of the Oppenheim bailiff Johann VII von Kronberg , who died in 1506. All children of Wolfgang VI. come from the first marriage.

  1. Ludwig I (* 1506 or 1507 or 1508; September 8, 1540, buried in the Katharinenkirche in Oppenheim) was a student at Heidelberg University in 1529 . Also in 1529 he married Margarete, daughter of Jacob III. Fleckenstein and Barbara von Ingelheim .

  4. Anna (* 1514, † September 15, 1563, buried in Sulz ) married Friedrich X. von Fleckenstein zu Hohweiler in 1535 (mentioned from 1520, † February 25, 1568, buried in Sulz).

Life

Wolfgang VI. Dalberg Burgmann was initially the imperial castle Landskron in Oppenheim. In 1520 he became a lender and bailiff of the Electoral Palatinate in Oppenheim. The imperial city of Oppenheim had been pledged by the king to the Palatinate electors since 1375 , who appointed a bailiff and pledgee to manage the property.

Wolfgang VI. Dalberg died in 1522 and was in the St. Catherine buried in Oppenheim, where he and his first wife, Agnes von Sickingen, an elaborate common Renaissance - Epitaph was built.
