The table tennis World Cup 2009 took place for the men in his 30th host from 16 to 18 October at the Russian Moscow and for the women in his 13th host from 10 to 12 October at the Chinese Guangzhou instead. Gold went to the Belarusian Vladimir Samsonov and the Chinese Liu Shiwen .

mode

19 athletes took part in each competition. The 15 best placed participants in the world rankings took part in the World Cup group stage, divided into four groups of four athletes each. The remaining four participants, the representatives of North America, Latin America, Africa and Oceania, played the remaining sixteenth place in the Intercontinental Cup group. The group first and second advanced to the main round, which was held in knockout mode. The semi-final losers played a game for third place.
