The 2018/19 season of the Vysschaya Hockey League is the 27th season of the second-highest Russian ice hockey division .

Changes compared to the previous year

• Sputnik Nizhny Tagil left the league for financial reasons and stopped playing.
• The HK Tambov was added to the league as expansion teams.
• In March 2018 the KHL board decided to exclude HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk and HK Lada Tolyatti from the KHL. Both clubs were then included in the Wysschaja Hockey League .
• KRS Heilongjiang moved from Harbin to Beijing and was renamed KRS-ORG Beijing .

mode

After 27 teams in the previous year, the league now includes 29 participants - 25 Russian, two Kazakh and two Chinese teams. They each play a return game against every other participant in the league, so each team plays a total of 56 games in the main round. The 16 best-placed teams then qualified for the playoffs, in which the second division champions are played. Each team receives three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after extra time, one point for a loss after extra time and zero points for a loss after regular time.
