Yu Sang-cheol (born October 18, 1971 in Seoul ) is a South Korean soccer coach and former soccer player .
Career
As a player
society
Yu Sang-cheol started his career at Ulsan Hyundai . With the team he won the championship title in the K League for the first time in his third season and was also the top scorer with 14 goals. For the 1999 season he moved to Japan to the Yokohama F. Marinos , before moving to Kashiwa Reysol in 2001 . For the 2002 season he returned to Ulsan Hyundai, but only one year later he switched back to the Yokohama F. Marinos. There he won the championship of the Japanese league in the 2003 and 2004 seasons . From 2005 to 2006 Yoo Sang-chul played again with Ulsan Hyundai, where he also ended his career. In 2005 he was again Korean champion with the team. In the 1994, 1998 and 2002 seasons, Yu Sang-cheol was elected to the eleven of the K League season.
National team
For the South Korean national soccer team , Yoo Sang-chul completed a total of 122 games and scored 18 goals. Among other things, he took part in the soccer world championships in 1998 and 2002 . In 2002 he finished fourth with the team and was appointed to the tournament's All-Star Team. In 2004 he took part in the Olympic football tournament with a wildcard and reached the quarter-finals. In 1996 and 2000 he also took part in the Asian soccer championships .
As a trainer
After the end of his playing career, Yu Sang-cheol became a football coach. From 2006 to 2009 he was the coach of UBI FC , from 2009 to 2011 of Chuncheon Tech Mech HS . On June 20, 2011, he moved to the Daejeon Citizen in the Korean first division. On December 1, 2012, he was released after a total of 56 games.
