Houses on the Ring of Goldentraum

Złotniki Lubańskie [ zwɔˈtɲiki luˈbaɲskjɛ ] (German Goldentraum ) is a village in the rural community Leśna ( Marklissa ) in the powiat Lubański in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . It is located on the left bank of the Queis ( Kwisa ) river.

history

According to the legend of its origin, the name of the place, which belonged to the Upper Lusatian Queiskkreis , is said to go back to a gold mine that was established by the landlord Christoph von Nostitz around 1654 on the property belonging to the Tzschocha rule . A small town was established there in 1662, which was initially called Neustädtel . Since Upper Lusatia had belonged to the Evangelical Electorate of Saxony since 1635 , Elector Johann Georg II gave Neustädtel the name Goldentraum on May 20, 1672 and at the same time granted it market and mining rights . A privilege allegedly granted in 1677 as a free mining town should not be verifiable. The settlers were mostly evangelical refugees from Bohemia and Silesia who had been persecuted in their homeland.

Mining was soon stopped again because it was economically not very profitable. That is why cloth and linen weaving was promoted in the 17th century. Although 50 cotton and 22 linen weavers are recorded for the year 1845, the economic upturn remained weak. The population lived mainly from agriculture and small businesses. The population development remained insignificant. It rose from 348 inhabitants in 1825 to 399 inhabitants in 1939.

After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Goldentraum fell to Prussia, along with the Queiskreis and Ostoberlausitz . It was now added to the province of Silesia and lost its city rights. As a rural community, it was incorporated into the Lauban district, newly formed in 1816, in the Liegnitz administrative district. In 1834 a fire caused severe damage. From 1874 Goldentraum belonged to the Volkersdorf district , which on January 1, 1908 consisted of the rural communities Goldentraum and Rengersdorf and the manor district of Tzschocha . 1921–1924, the Goldentraum dam was built near Goldentraum .

As a result of the Second World War, Goldentraum fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Złotniki Lubańskie . The German population was expelled. Some of the newly settled residents were forcibly evacuated from eastern Poland . The population fell to around 200 in 1961. 1975-1998 Złotniki Lubańskie belonged to the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship .
