Zachery Xavier Peacock (born October 13, 1987 in Miami , Florida ) is an American basketball player . After completing his studies in his home country, Peacock played as a professional for three years in the German basketball league for the Gießen 46ers, Eisbären Bremerhaven and the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt am Main . Since then, apart from a short break, he has been professionally active in France, where he has already twice achieved the championship of the second-highest division LNB Pro B with his respective clubs .

Career

Peacock moved from Norland High School in his hometown to study at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2006 , where he played for the college team Yellow Jackets in the NCAA's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) . After the Yellow Jackets had already qualified for the national finals during Peacock's season in his freshman year 2007 in a first round defeat against the Runnin 'Rebels of the UNLV , they came in 2010 in Peacock's senior year after a final defeat against the Blue Devils of Duke University as Vice champion of the ACC Tournament again in the NCAA finals. After an opening win as the tenth seeded team, they were eliminated in the second round against the Buckeyes of Ohio State University . Peacock himself had lost his place in the starting five in his senior year , which he still held as a junior . But he was considered the fourth best scorer of the team with 9.1 points on average as one of the best substitute players for the ACC. However, it was not to be expected that he would be selected in the NBA Draft 2010 of the highest endowed US professional league NBA ; at least he got an invitation for the NBA Summer League 2010 in the jersey of the Miami Heat , but it was not enough for a contract in the seasonal squad of an NBA club.

In 2010 Peacock began his professional career in the German basketball league with the 46ers from Gießen . After a good start to the season, they slipped to the bottom of the table in the middle of the season and were only able to secure relegation in the basketball Bundesliga 2010/11 with one win . For the following season 2011/12 he moved together with his teammate Anthony Smith from Giessen to the league competitor Eisbären from Bremerhaven , who missed it at the end of the season to reach the play-offs for the German championship for the third time in a row . For the following season 2012/13 Peacock was then signed by the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt, which after only 14 wins in 34 games only reached 14th place in the final table.

For the 2013/2014 season, Peacock moved to France, where he signed a contract with Stade Olympigue Maritime (SOMB) from Boulogne-sur-Mer in the French second division. With this club he won the LNB Pro B championship . Nevertheless, he moved from the promoted team within France to Cholet to the new league competitor, who could not improve in LNB Pro A 2014/15 in the league, which was enlarged by two to 18 teams, in 14th place compared to the previous season and lost one place. Peacock had already left Cholet early after the turn of the year and had moved to the second Turkish division for Melikşah Üniversitesi SK from Kayseri , who was eliminated in the first play-off round for promotion to the top division and finally not only the one year later Game operations, but also the eponymous private university. At this time, Peacock was already playing in France again and was transferred to the first division relegated Jeunesse laïque Basket from Bourg-en-Bresse in the 2015/16 season , who like Peacock's former team SOM Boulogne-sur-Mer directly back after only one first division season had descended. The play-offs at the end of the season for the second, remaining promotion place won JL Basket, but initially waived promotion before taking first place in the following season and achieving direct promotion. Like three years earlier with SOMB, Peacock was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the Pro B champions. In the higher division, too, Peacock was now one of the best players in the LNB Pro A 2017/18 and was voted “Joueur du mois” ( German  Player of the Month ) in October 2017 by a French specialist portal before he was on his way to one individual MVP award was stopped by a pneumothorax in April 2018, which also calls into question the first-time participation in the play-offs for the French championship of the first division returnee.
