Zambezia is the first computer-animated film from the Republic of South Africa by the companies Triggerfish Animation , Cinema Management Group , Splendid Film / WVG and Zambia Film , which was released in 2012 .

action

The film is about a young peregrine falcon named Kai who lives with his father in the East African Rift Valley, called Katungo here . Kai feels his life there is boring and wants to experience more.

When a saddle stork named Gogo crashes here one day , he seizes his chance to get to know the world outside of his home. From Gogo he learns about the Hurricanes , a group of the best aviators who live in the mysterious bird town of Zambezia , and he wants to become a part of them. Together with his friends, he sets out to make his dream come true. His father is against it, but lets him go so that he can find his place in life. But looking for Kai, he encounters the dragon Budzo, from which it is captured.

When the complete plot of the marabous , which abducted the weaver birds together with the monitor lizard Budzo , has to prove that he is not only a member of the Hurricanes , but also belongs to the large family of Zambezias , which can only make it together, Budzo's plan to thwart and save Zambezia .

Production and publication

The total cost to produce the film was approximately $ 20 million. The film was released in German cinemas on August 30, 2012. The DVD launch took place on March 22, 2013. Further releases were shown in France, Great Britain, the USA, Australia, Argentina and other countries in 2012 and 2013. The film was nominated for the 2013 Annie Awards in the Music and Speaker categories.
