Zdrojek ( German  Zdrojek , 1938 to 1945 Künsberg ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Janowo in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ).

Geographical location

Zdrojek is located in the southwestern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , ten kilometers east of the district town of Nidzica ( German  Neidenburg ).

history

The place called Zdroyck before 1895 originally consisted of only three small farms. Until 1945 it was a residential area of the municipality of Modlken (1938 to 1945 Moddelkau , Polish Módłki ) within the district of Bartoschken (1938 to 1945 Bartzdorf (East Pr.) , Polish Bartoszki ) in the East Prussian district of Neidenburg . On June 3, 1938 - officially confirmed on July 16 - Zdrojek was renamed "Künsberg" for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names.

As a result of the war, Künsberg was transferred to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia . The place got its former name back and as Osada leśna (= forest settlement) is today a place in the network of the rural community Janowo in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945, Zdrojek or Künsberg was parish in the Protestant church Muschaken ( Muszaki in Polish ) in the Church Province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church Neidenburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today Zdrojek belongs to the Protestant parish of Nidzica in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and to the Roman Catholic parish of Muszaki in the Archdiocese of Warmia .

Zdrojek is located on an insignificant side street that connects the Voivodship Road 604 near Więckowo (Wientzkowen , 1938 to 1945 Winsken ) with Wolisko (1938 to 1945 Schnepfenberge ). There is no rail connection.
