Ruskowo ( German  Reuschwerder ) is a small village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Janowo in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ).

Geographical location

Ruskowo is located in the southwestern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , 23 kilometers east of the district town of Nidzica ( German  Neidenburg ).

history

The small village called Ruczkowen before 1871 was founded in 1719. In 1874 the place came to the newly established district of Roggen (Polish: Róg ) in the East Prussian district of Neidenburg .

244 residents were registered in Reuschwerder in 1910. Their number was 232 in 1933 and 216 in 1939.

When all of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Reuschwerder was also affected. The village received the Polish form of the name "Ruskowo" and is now a place within the rural community Janowo in the powiat Nidzicki ( Neidenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Reuschwerder was parish in the Protestant church Muschaken (Polish: Muszaki ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church Neidenburg in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Ruskowo belongs on the Protestant side to the parish in Róg (Roggen) , a branch of the parish Nidzica in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , and on the Catholic side to the parish of Muszaki (Muschaken) in the Archdiocese of Warmia .

traffic

Ruskowo is located on the busy Voivodship Road 604 , which connects State Road 7 near Nidzica with State Road 57 near Wielbark (Willenberg) .

The next train station is Puchałowo (Puchallowen / Windau) on the - although not currently used - railway line Nidzica - Wielbark .
