Ziebigk is a district of Dessau-Roßlau , an independent city in Saxony-Anhalt . It is located about two kilometers northwest of the city center.
history
The settlement Ziebigks began in the 18th century, after 1742 Prince Leopold an agricultural Vorwerk founded. The house ( Kirchstrasse 1 ) built in 1743 for his tenants is still preserved today. Ziebigk quickly turned into a village. With the industrial boom in neighboring Dessau that began in the last third of the 19th century, villas for the local population increased in Ziebigk and it became its suburb. One benefited from the green location and the resulting excursion traffic. Business also settled there, transported by the neighboring Wallwitzhafen and Leopoldshafen. In 1884/85 a school building was built in today's Schulstrasse 25, which was expanded in 1899. On December 16, 1900, the Protestant church was consecrated, which today bears the name Christ Church . Even after the incorporation in Dessau on October 1, 1923, growth continued until the Second World War .
In the 1970s and 80s the new residential area Knarrberg was built , and after the fall of the Wall , the residential areas Kirschberg and Großes Loos .
Ziebigk extends directly to the Elbe in the north . At the Kornhaus there is a landing stage for excursions. The connection to the other districts of Dessau is made by two bus lines of the Dessau transport company .
