The Zohhoiiyoru Bank is a largely flooded, sunken atoll in the Western Caroline Islands . It is located in the western part of the state of Yap of the Federated States of Micronesia .

The bank is located 26 km east of the southern tip of Ulithi Atoll and 190 km northeast of Yap Island . The closest islands are the Turtle Islands four kilometers further west.

Most of the Zohhoiiyoru Bank has depths of 10 to 20 meters. The structure is 22 km long, with a north-south orientation, and up to 4 km wide. Only in the extreme northwest are two small uninhabited and forested islands with coral reefs (with area data):

  • Iar (Yaaor, 16 hectares)
  • Gielap (Giil'ab, 10 hectares)

Zohhoiiyoru Bank is on the same large seamount as Ulithi Atoll and the Turtle Islands.

Administratively, the Zohhoiiyoru Bank - as well as the neighboring small archipelago of the Turtle Islands - belongs to the municipality of Ulithi .

The atoll's two islands, Gielap and Iar, are part of the Turtle Islands Conservation Area , which also includes the three islands of the Turtle Islands group . The area aims to protect the breeding areas of sea ​​turtles and sea ​​birds .
