The Turtle Islands are a small group of islands in the Micronesian state of Yap .

They are located about 13 km from the eastern rim of the Ulithi Atoll and 4 km west of the Zohhoiiyoru Bank . The three islands of the Turtle Islands are (from northwest to southeast, with area data):

The small, consistently forested and uninhabited coral islands are bordered by a common, elongated coral reef that is six kilometers in size and 1.5 kilometers wide. It is an incompletely formed atoll with a small, elongated lagoon .

Administratively, the small island group belongs as well as the neighboring east Zohhoiiyoru Bank to the former municipality ( municipality ) Ulithi and to the territory of the High Chief ( high chief or paramount chief ) of Ulithi and the current community Falalop .

At least the main island of L'oosiyep was inhabited earlier and, together with the other Turtle Islands and the two islands of the neighboring Zohhoiiyoru Bank, formed the district of L'oosiyep, one of the original eight districts of Ulithi. The population completely relocated to the island of Falalop.

The Turtle Islands Conservation Area includes the three islands of the group and the two islands of the Zohhoiiyoru Bank, Gielap and Iar. The area aims to protect the breeding areas of sea turtles and sea birds .
