Thomas Lewis Crabtree (born November 4, 1985) is an American football tight end for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Miami University. He was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2009.

College career

Before his professional career, Crabtree was a four-year letterman and three-year starter at tight end for Miami University.

Professional career

Kansas City Chiefs

Crabtree was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a undrafted free agent on May 8, 2009. He appeared in all four of Kansas City’s preseason games registering two catches for 19 yards. He was then waived in the Chiefs final roster cutdown on Sept. 6 but later signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad the next day after clearing waivers. He was then released after the third regular season game.

Green Bay Packers

During the 2009 NFL season, Crabtree was signed to the Green Bay Packers practice squad for the final five weeks of the 2009 NFL season and then to a reserve/futures contract after the season had ended. Crabtree made it past the Packers final roster cutdown before the 2010 NFL season as their third string TE behind Jermichael Finley, Donald Lee and ahead of rookie TE Andrew Quarless.

Crabtree started all 16 games on offense and special teams. Crabtree completed a 7-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter of the Packers' Wild card game at the Philadelphia Eagles, opening the scoring with his first NFL touchdown.

He was assessed a face mask penalty on a third quarter punt return in Super Bowl XLV. The penalty allowed the Pittsburgh Steelers to start at midfield, and Rashard Mendenhall ended the drive with an 8-yard touchdown run which cut Green Bay's lead to 21-17. Crabtree made a one yard reception on the final drive for the Green Bay Packers near the goal line. Crabtree drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Keyaron Fox on the final kickoff in Super Bowl XLV. The penalty forced the Pittsburgh Steelers to start near their own endzone which resulted in a turn over on downs ending Super Bowl XLV.
