(2835) Ryoma ( 1982 WF ; 1932 YB ; 1941 WB ; 1961 CB 1 ; 1963 QC ; 1972 NT ; 1975 EX 3 ; 1977 QF 5 ; 1977 RY 7 ; 1979 AA ; 1980 GP ; 1989 GQ 8 ) is approximately an eleven Kilometer large asteroid of the central main belt , discovered on November 20, 1982 by the Japanese astronomer Tsutomu Seki at the Geisei Observatory in Geisei in the prefecture of Kōchi in Japan ( IAU code 372).
designation
(2835) Ryoma was named after the Japanese revolutionary Sakamoto Ryōma (1836-1867), who is considered to be the pioneer of the Meiji Restoration . Like the explorer Tsutomu Seki, he was born in Kōchi , after which the asteroid (2396) Kochi is named. Sakamoto Ryōma was murdered because of the revolution.
